Annie Lindo, joint founder of Camel Valley Vineyards, has just finished the winter pruning in her own ‘Annie’s vineyard’ of 5000 vines for the 28th consecutive year.
There are very few vineyards in the world that have only ever been pruned by just one person and Annie Lindo is one of those select few.
Annie’s Anniversary Brut is made exclusively from grapes grown in Annie’s vineyard and is a regular award winner, with top medals from numerous competitions. The 2013 won double Gold and the newly released 2014 won an International Wine Challenge Silver.
Husband Bob Lindo commented: “This was an amazing achievement - the 140,000th vine!”
Annie herself added: “I have always enjoyed being hands-on in the vineyard and in touch with nature.”
To mark her 100,000th vine pruned, son Sam produced the first ‘Annie’s Anniversary’ Brut sparkling wine in 2010 - the progress of which was followed keenly on Caroline Quentin’s TV programme on Cornwall (broadcast on ITV in 2012). Annie’s Anniversary is now the most popular wine at Camel Valley - and Bob’s favourite too.
