Last month Dorset sparkling wine producer Langham Wine Estate officially opened its new kitchen, ‘The Vineyard Café’, headed up by Andrew James Catering. Over 200 guests attended the free event, where Langham Wine Estate’s three new wines - Classic Cuvée 2014, Rosé 2014 and Blanc de Blancs 2014- were available to taste and buy.

Tasters were available from Andrew James’ Vineyard Café, a delicious selection of homemade seasonal dishes for hungry visitors, complimenting the English sparkling cuvées. Visitors came from all over Dorset, Somerset and Hampshire and enjoyed strolling around the vineyards in the warm evening sun, before settling down on the tasting room picnic tables for fizz and food!

Owner Justin Langham comments on the opening of the Vineyard Café: “We were delighted to see a huge number of people attend our launch evening, and following the café’s opening in July we have welcomed plenty of visitors – both local and holiday-makers – through our doors.“

“Since planting our first vines in 2009 we’ve had so much support from the community even before the tasting room opened so being able to host guests in the Vineyard Café following tours and tastings is a fantastic step for the business. It’s also a sign of the times as English wine tourism continues to grow so we look forward to many more events to come!”

The new menu at the Vineyard Café includes breakfast sandwiches on freshly baked bread with free-range eggs, local meat and smoked Arctic char. Lunch dishes include a Winemakers Lunch with home roasted gammon, coastal cheddar, pork and cranberry hand raised pie, rustic bread and chutney, a smoked fish platter, and choice of a daily special savoury tart tatin or quiche. And much more!

The new cuvées are available direct from www.langhamwine.co.uk or via Marks & Spencer, from £24.

The Vineyard Café is open Monday – Saturday, 12-5pm throughout August. Visit the website to check opening hours from September onwards, or to book a table or tour.
