Buds, shoots and flowers...
After a period of dormancy in winter, the vines are now quickly bursting back to life with new shoots growing each day and clusters of early flowers appearing with increasing frequency. It's all happening fast; this could very quickly get out of control, applying a lot of subtle care and attention is crucial throughout this season.
During an enjoyable morning we teach you the important role the viticulturist plays in ensuring the growth is happening where it should. We want these flowers to grow and ripen steadily into good quality grapes, and we invite you to roll your sleeves and get involved. If the term 'bud rubbing' is new to you now, it will be as familiar as the taste of a fine wine after a spring morning in the vineyard with us.
Your vineyard experience:
- Arrive at the Vineyard at 9.30am for a showround and introduction to the vineyard, its grape varieties and our wine*
- Group fruit planning tutorial
- Personal fruit planning instruction
- Refreshments (tea and coffee)
- Bud rubbing and vine care session
- English wine tasting among the vines
- 1.00pm leave the vineyard and head for nearby Sissinghurst village for a delicious two course lunch with a glass of Rampant Horse* at The Milk House (for one)
This Cheery Days Spring Experience is for a single person. After booking we will contact you with confirmation instructions and directions to the vineyard. Terms and Conditions Apply.
The Milk House
Situated in picturesque Sissinghurst, The Milk House is a village pub at the heart of the community. Every day the bar welcomes loyal locals, along with visitors from further afield, offering cask ales from Kentish breweries and a wide selection of wines that include offerings from the area's renowned vineyards.
Dining at The Milk House
The Milk House offers a range of classic pub fare as well as a seasonal Dining Menu. A light Grazing Menu is available all day, while the terrace is home to a wood-fired pizza oven. On Sunday there's a choice of delicious roasts and there are wholesome choices for children too, all prepared with fresh local ingredients!

Tours and Tastings at Renishaw Hall
Kieron Atkinson looks after Renishaw Hall Vineyard in Derbyshire and Welcombe Hills Vineyard in Warwickshire. Renishaw Hall was for many years the most northerly vineyard in the world, and both vineyards have picked up multiple awards for the wine produced by Kieron from grapes grown at each site.
Please follow the link to this new, short video, produced by Bleak House Media for Kieron - founder of The English Wine Project - and who is also an award winning wine maker. It’s the first video of its kind for the ever-expanding English wine industry.
Kieron kick starts his 2015 vineyard tours at Renishaw Hall Vineyard in north Derbyshire on Saturday 23rd May, as part of English Wine Week.
