English Wine Week starts over Spring Bank Holiday which is also half term holiday for most schools. It marks the start of the tourist season, and the vineyards themselves are waking up to the new growing season – there is plenty to see and enjoy.

In the run up to English Wine Week we will be listing details of forthcoming events and news about the events will be posted on our news pages. You will also be able to follow our daily ‘English Wine Week event of the day’ on twitter @englishwine and @englishwineweek!

Come to the vineyard on a late spring morning and learn how we plan for fruit set. In the afternoon you'll head off for lunch and a glass of wine at the local village pub. All included in the price.

After a period of dormancy in winter, the vines are now quickly bursting back to life with new shoots growing each day and clusters of early flowers appearing with increasing frequency. It's all happening fast; this could very quickly get out of control, applying a lot of subtle care and attention is crucial throughout this season.

During an enjoyable morning we teach you the important role the viticulturist plays in ensuring the growth is happening where it should. We want these flowers to grow and ripen steadily into good quality grapes, and we invite you to roll your sleeves and get involved. If the term 'bud rubbing' is new to you now, it will be as familiar as the taste of a fine wine after a spring morning in the vineyard with us.

Your sumptuous two-course lunch with a glass of Rampant Horse* is served at Sissinghurst's award-winning village pub, The Milk House.

Your vineyard experience:

  • Arrive at the Vineyard at 9.30am for a showround and introduction to the vineyard, its grape varieties and our wine*
  • Group fruit planning tutorial
  • Personal fruit planning instruction
  • Refreshments (tea and coffee)
  • Bud rubbing and vine care session
  • English wine tasting among the vines
  • 1.00pm leave the vineyard and head for nearby Sissinghurst village for a delicious two course lunch with a glass of Rampant Horse* at The Milk House (for one)

This Cheery Days Spring Experience is for a single person. After booking we will contact you with confirmation instructions and directions to the vineyard. Terms and Conditions Apply.
